Say Hello to My Little Friend
I bought this today: It has completely made me giddy with delight.
Okay. Okay. I know. I already have 2,359 of his other cookbooks. . . . but I did not own or touch or smell or cherish this one. Until now. Now I do. Now I can.
God I love him. Is he still on TV? I only have one of his cookbooks. I swear I just own it to gaze at the photos of him. To date I've only made one of the recipes...
I like this guy - he does good food and I like the way he does it by feel rather than exact measurements. He is also a bit of a food activist which is good!
Jamie Oliver a hunk? Surely not. I do usually like his shows though, and we have one of his books (which has been used a couple of time). It's strange - sometimes I really like him and I like what he's doing and then I go back to thinking of him as a complete git who bugs the hell out of me for all sorts of reasons.
tt: I heart Jamie Oliver (aka: the naked chef)! He's not "naked" other than he cooks with just the basics (most items everyday people store in their kitchens). If you can understand the recipes (he cooks like he talks & sometimes you feel like you're all over the place going in circles), the food is fantastic. Nothing I've ever cooked from Jamie has turned out bad. Nothing.
Princess: According to Jay (see comment below yours), he is still on TV. I always love his interviews - he has such an awesome disposition. I never thought of him as a hottie, but he's definitely not hard on the eyes!
Jay: who's this Sandra Lee? ? ? Jamie is NOT on prime time? What thuuuu. . . His food is so wonderful, but maybe it's b/c one can be a bit confused in trying to cook directly with his recipes? But that is what I like, you can change it to your suits/needs/wants and it still turns out wonderful!
Alli: He IS awesome isn't he? You are welcome anytime for dinner.
Rock chef: my sentiments exactly! This way, you can make the recipes your own.
Shanksi: Yeah. I never thought of him as a hunk, but it's not like he's awful to look at. I am in complete love with his food, recipes, dressings, etc. though! A git? Surely not. ***laughing***
butterfly girl: I am planning on making something today. I definitely will update on whatevers I makes.
Ian: THAT one has not made it to the states yet - or not that I can tell. I also didn't see that one in Barnes & Noble yesterday. Have you done any recipes from it yet? He mentions in this book that he's growing his own veggies/herbs as well as raising his own meat. . .
Mama Bear: How nice would THAT be to have your own personal Jamie Oliver chef? ***dreaming***
I have 2 cookbooks. They are both full of only chicken recipes. I have only used one of them one time. (Although, per one of my New Year's resolutions, that should change.)
Em: I heart cooking! I used to throw big wine and dinner parties for my friends and those were some fantastic times. If you like cooking, I'd highly recommend J. Oliver - start with this book I have here "Cook with Jamie". He can teach you from scratch in this one as well as tell you what's what and give some decent explanations.
Plus, even if you change his recipes they still turn out wonderful! ! !
Let me know if you do go this route. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.
In a nutshell, I am a little bit crazy and only a little bit funny. I possess a little pack of animals.
I have more than a little love in my life. I believe in a little kindness and in more than loads of forgiveness. I am married to the husband and contrary to popular belief, little is he fake.
And, finally, every now and then I can knock back a little dirty vodka martini. Shaken not stirred with extra olives, preferably. Slainte Mhath!

I can't believe that the Food Network put his show on at 8:30 AM on Saturdays while that idiot Sandra Lee still gets a prime time slot. It's crazy.
I guess I could record his show, but still.
I used to watch him when he was the naked chef. He is cool!
Can I come over for dinner?
;)

If you actually make a recipe out of the book let us know!
My kids don't allow cooking shows on T.V.
*L* ;)

I got this one for Christmas. It's all about growing your own stuff and using it in your cooking. There's a load of recipes in there I want to try.
I'd be more jealous if you had him locked in your kitchen, that would make me jealous...and his wife pretty pissed I guess, lol.

I think we did a roast lamb recipe from the new book. Did we have lamb when you were down? May have been that one.
