I'm the One Hiding Under Your Bed

To use the words of Jack Skellington:

This is Halloween, everybody make a scene
Trick or treat till the neighbors gonna die of fright
It’s our town, everybody scream
In this town of Halloween

***

La la-la la, Halloween! Halloween!

Naw, I didn't do Halloween this year, even though it's up there on my list of favorites. ***sad***

Last year, I decked out the dog, put on my Jack Skellington shirt, put the candy in a cauldron and sat out front for almost an hour waiting. No one came. I waited the last 3 hours of trick-or-treat in my house and not one person came by. It was a complete bummer. I felt like a loser.

This year, I didn't even bother to buy candy and, again, not one person has rung the bell.

What's happened to Halloween?

No kiddos???? Weird! We had a good number last night. I was out of town last year & within these 2 years our newly built neighborhood has exploded...so I had to learn last night just how tough it is to juggle making dinner, giving out candy, & keeping the Merl-dawg calm EACH time the doorbell rang. OI!

P.S. - love me some Jack Skellington! I want hubby & I to dress as Jack and Sally for Halloween sometime :) How fun would that be?

We had loads of kids too, compared to none last year. Some of the neighbours got sick of there being no kids and no-one giving out candy, so they hosted a party at 5:30 for the street and rented a bouncy castle for the kids. At 7:15 we all took off back to our houses and the kids went up and down the street in a big procession, then we went back and partied some more. Great fun and hopefully going to be an annual event.

WOW, Ian...that is such a cool idea & great way to get to know your neighbors!
