The husband had a day off today. Guess what I made him do on his one day off before I leave our Longhorn City?
Go to a movie. That's right. A movie. It had been so long since we've seen the inside of a movie theater, that I was like a school kid in a candy shop! So, what movie did we pick? The husbands vote: National Treasure: Book of Secrets. My vote: Cloverfield. Guess who won? That's right, me. Woot. Woot.
Off we went.
Where I made it through 40 minutes of the movie. The husband looked at me a few times, "baby, you don't look so good. Let's leave." And since I really, really wanted to see this movie, I refused to budge. Increasingly, I became clammy, sweaty and green-ish. At 40 minutes, or there about, I ran to the women's restroom. All of the stalls were full. I tasted vomit. I couldn't cool off. I wanted to lie down. A few women stared at me as if I were some kind of junkie, but no one asked if I was okay. What's wrong with society? I suppose, to their credit, I looked like a fashionably dressed junkie, but . . .
After 20 minutes being spent in a movie theaters bathroom, I returned to my seat still not quite right in the belly. The husband whispered, "honey, a movie is supposed to be fun and you look miserable; let's just go."
Putting my head down in disappointment, I finally nodded. Motion sickness is a bitch.

Oh that sucks! I never thought of that. The handheld camera on the big screen. Yeah, I could see that being a problem.
Hope you're feelin' mo betta, chica!
Oh you poor thing! I would be so devastated! Although I have been sick on my actual birthday, the first party thrown for me in years. AND my first marriage had an actual honeymoon and I was so sick I was hallucinating. So I feel for you totally!
I was afraid that I might get that way if I watched it, (when I saw the trailer) and hoped that the would change formats during the movie.
Bummer for you. I want to see both of those movies however. :)
LMAO @ Death by Sporking!
Hope it cleared up when you got outta there! I wanted to see that one, too. But maybe I'll wait for the DVD...will it be that bad on a little screen?
That must have felt horrible...I too am waiting for the DVD!
Jay: The husband told me I looked as terrible as I did on a 45-minute 6-foot waves boat ride. I puked then too. I almost never scuba dove again. Blair Witch made me a bit queasy, but nothing like this. This. Was. Awful.
I was really bummed too, b/c I wanted to see a movie with the husband in the very least. We left with me sick for 7+ hours after that.
Alli: I only felt better after waking up this AM. I may or may not try to watch it on the small screen as you had suggested & others here may seem to think as well. I dunno? I'm a bit frightened of it now. . .
butterfly girl: Ino. Sadly, I've experienced motion sickness on the honeymoon too AND food poisoning. I was a good time then. Woot. Thanks.
g-man: I was hoping when I saw the trailer it to would switch to REAL camera angles. It did not. It got worse. I, too, want to see National Treasure II - I just picked the wrong movie. ***sigh***
rll: it might be a good idea to wait for the small screen. I was saying that to the husband on the way home that at least if I watched in on DVD I could pause it if/when I got sick and walk away. then come back to it when I wanted/felt better.
joel: it was horrible. couple that with REALLY wanting to see a movie with my husband; it just made it all that much the more worse.
Ugh, that sucks. Was the bit of the movie you saw any good?
I heard that a lot of people have had that problem with that movie. I've also heard that the movie itself is a 1 on a scale of 1-10 (10 being awesome). Sorry you didn't enjoy it.
Em
A movie made you that ill? One to avoid, I think, as I suffer from motion sickness too!
Good Grief! I had no idea...I get queasy at IMAC theaters...I think I'll just say no.
Came over via RLL, your name intrigues me...Wisconsin/Texas????
Thanks for the warning on Cloverfield, I get motion sickness from video games, now I know not to try to watch the movie.
I'll be back.
The movie was that bad?
I've never heard that people could get motion sickness like that, actually. I guess I'm just blessed not suffering from it. I used to be car sick as a child, but that too has passed.
In retrospect... maybe you should've seen National Treasure, eh? ;)
Oh no!! I'm so sorry girl. I bet it'll be better when you can watch it on DVD. Most people get sick because the screen is so huge and they can't look at anything else.
Oh dear! I'm glad to read this though, because the hubs and I are going to our first flick since the babe's been born (6 months later! haha), and he was trying to put that one up for consideration. I was like...uh...how 'bout no. So I think we're going to see something fun like The Bucket List.
And I would have asked if you were ok. :)
